Boris Melamed

Boris Melamed grew up in Latvia and West Berlin. He speaks seven languages, none of them fluently. Boris lived through the fall of the Berlin Wall, the fall of the Soviet Empire and the appearance of Pepsi in Israel. These events alone don't fully explain his moving to Israel in 1998. But then again - what does? Frustrated at his limited ability to understand English-speaking comedy, he has taken revenge by taking it to the stage himself. Boris holds a Master's degree in Computer Science and graduation certificates of comedy workshops taught by Charley Warady.
[His] enthusiasm and subject matter were irresistibly offbeat. [...] A speaker of no fewer than seven languages - "even the Swiss would be jealous" - Melamed's emphasis on the comedy of linguistics differentiated his routine from anything you'd be likely to see in a larger or less diverse country. "You wouldn't expect someone who spent most of his life in Germany to do stand-up comedy," Melamed noted. Nor would you expect his sense of humor, in English, to be so unconventional and enjoyable. - Nathan Burstein, Billboard, Jerusalem Post Not bad. Now do the dishes already. - Esti Melamed, back at the apartment!
